Resizing an infrastructure container
If you find that you are reaching the CPU or disk limits of your infrastructure container, you can resize it. Resizing happens within seconds, in place, with no down-time for the instance you resize.
Note: that changes to memory or CPU in a bhyve instance will require a restart.
Resizing an instance from the portal
From the the Triton Compute Service portal, navigate to the compute pane, which will automatically lead you to the subcategory instances and list all of your available instances. Click on the instance you want to resize. Scroll down and click the resize instance section to expand. You will see the current size of your instance and a dropdown menu of new size options. Select the new size and click the resize button.
Keep in mind the following:
- Resizing is supported for Triton container instances, including infrastructure containers, Docker containers and bhyve hardware virtualized instances (learn more about containers on Triton). You cannot resize KVM instances.
- While resizing usually succeeds, it may not always be possible to do so based on the constraints of the server that hosts your instance.
- Customers must pay any additional costs for larger instances. Please consult our cloud pricing when making resizing decisions.
Note: You can only increase the size of a container. Resizing down is not supported.
